Ocean Street: diners' delight | ||||||
Maroochydore’s Ocean Street precinct is fast becoming a favourite with foodies and fun lovers alike. Pitchers is proud to have helped a trio of establishments make their mark on this newly revived corner of the Coast. Here, we go behind the scenes of OS3, The Post Office and Hello Harry, to check out their recipe for success. Hello Harry is the creation of Scott Hoskins and Tony Kelly, whose impressive culinary cv includes Noosa Beach House Peter Kuruvita, Stokehouse Brisbane, Il Secondo and The Wine Bar. Best described as a boutique burger joint, Hello Harry offers diners a range of six gourmet burgers in addition to a daily special. The delicious fillings include pulled pork and grilled chicken breast with home-made mayo and beetroot relish through to chickpea with labna for the vegetarians. Built on a base of brioche buns direct from Tony’s commercial bakery, these burgers are available for take-away or dining in and are fast gaining a reputation as being the best on the Coast.
Determined to deliver his patrons a unique dining
experience, Tony called on Pitchers to source and supply contemporary
tableware in keeping with Hello Harry’s urban, industrial-style interior.
The result includes tin pizza trays for serving burgers and rolls of paper
towel in place of napkins on the tables. Tony credits Susie Piva from
Pitchers with having a knack for helping him to realise his vision. |

“Susie is extremely creative, which is important to me,” Tony said. “Sometimes I’ll have an idea but I won’t know how to pull it together. I can talk through my ideas with Susie and then she and the Pitchers team will join the dots for me. They’ve always been very helpful.” Pitchers also helped out with Hello Harry’s nearest neighbour, OS3. This new venue is another of Tony and Scott’s innovative establishments. They have been joined in this new venture by Executive Chef Daniel Jarrett, formerly of The Tamarind restaurant where his talents helped secure the venue two coveted Chef Hats. Located at 3 Ocean Street, OS3 provides the perfect pre or post dinner watering hole for Hello Harry patrons.
In addition to the popular bar, OS3 seats 55 guests for lunch or dinner. Thanks to Daniel Jarrett’s ingenuity and culinary creativity, the menu changes every 12 weeks (and sometimes even the furniture and uniforms change too). OS3’s first 12 week menu was based around a formal, degustation to give patrons the opportunity to sample some of the Coast’s best cuisine.
Pitchers sourced and supplied a range of Trenton tableware, in keeping with Tony’s debut menu. “We wanted an organic look and Trenton tableware was ideal,” Tony said. “We’ve incorporated a mix of coloured plates with earthy tones and some Scandinavian stoneware.” |
Further, Tony said he looks forward to collaborating with Pitchers on his next 12 week menu. Susie from Pitchers is equally as enthusiastic about what the future holds.
“OS3 is an exciting addition to Ocean Street,” Susie said. “We’ve worked with Tony for many years and yet again he’s delivered locals and tourists a unique and exciting dining destination.” When it comes to special deliveries, The Post Office bar and restaurant is also serving up something special. The Post Office sits on the site of the original Maroochydore Post Office and this revived venue certainly pays homage to its history. The Post Office effortlessly blends old and new with a distinctive interior that combines contemporary design with old world elegance. Chesterfield lounges and wingback armchairs offer the charm of yesteryear in clever contrast to modern lighting, industrial shelving and polished concrete flooring.
Laighton Fitzpatrick from Pitchers worked with the Post Office team to select a range of countertop equipment, crockery, plates and serving boards. Laighton was also on hand to stock their new bar with blenders, ice bucket scoops and other bar utensils. Additionally, the Post Office calls on Pitchers for all their ongoing cleaning chemicals.
The Post Office and Hello Harry both open seven days. OS3 is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner.
